Napoli President Claims Juventus Will Not Qualify for the Club World Cup
Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, believes that Juventus will not qualify for the Club World Cup. According to him, the series of penalties that prevented Juve from playing in European competitions was the reason.
FIFA made a new breakthrough by adding participants to the Club World Cup. A total of 32 teams that qualify will compete against each other in a tournament that will last for one month.
From Italy, Inter Milan have certainly qualified. Meanwhile, one other place could be occupied by Napoli or Juventus. Il Partenopei needs to reach the semi-finals of this season's Champions League to secure a spot.
Seeing that, De Laurentiis is confident. He believes Juventus will not step into the Club World Cup.
"I apologize to Juventus manager Calvo. I'm sorry for Juve who were penalized and knocked out of the cup this season," De Laurentiis told TMW.
"If we beat Barcelona and then draw and win, we have the right to qualify," he added.
"However, I also think that Napoli should qualify. Precisely because Juventus were punished by UEFA by being eliminated from the Europa League."
"They can't even participate in the Club World Cup. Without prejudice to the fact that this event will cause a thousand problems for the next national season."
