2026 World Cup qualifiers: Cameroon draw, Tunisia win

Cameroon were held to a goalless draw and Tunisia won their African Zone qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday morning, according to CAF records.

Cameroon were held to a 0-0 draw by Eswatini at the Mbombela Stadium in Mbombela, South Africa, in Group D of the 2026 African Zone qualifiers.

Despite the draw, Cameroon remain at the top of Group D with nine points from five games, although they could be overtaken by Libya, Cape Verde or Libya.

On the other hand, the draw was Eswatini’s first point of the campaign, but it has not lifted them off the bottom of the standings with one point from five games.

Statistically, Cameroon dominated the game with 65 per cent of the possession and 12 shots on target, but none of them were on target.

Meanwhile, Tunisia held on for a narrow 1-0 win over Liberia in Group H at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Stadium in Paynesville, Liberia.

Tunisia’s victory over Liberia came courtesy of a quick goal from Hazem Mastouri after just four minutes of play.

The win sees Tunisia consolidate their position at the top of Group H with 13 points from five games, six ahead of Liberia in third.

Statistically, Liberia dominated possession with 72 per cent of the ball, but Tunisia’s eight shots on target made them look sharper.

Here are the results of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the African Zone, Thursday morning IST:

Eswatini 0 – 0 Cameroon

Liberia 0 – 1 Tunisia

Central African Republic 1 – 4 Madagascar.
