No new trophy for Messi this time.
In the early hours of Monday, September 1, the Leagues Cup final featured Seattle Sounders against Inter Miami.
Messi had an opportunity to secure another trophy with Inter Miami, but it wasn’t meant to be. The Herons fell behind in the 26th minute. For much of the match, the score remained at 1-0 in favor of Seattle.
Inter Miami pressed for an equalizer, but the Sounders defended well and increased their lead in the 82nd minute with a penalty. Just seven minutes later, Rothrock scored again, sealing a 3-0 victory for Seattle.
Inter Miami faced a tough 0-3 loss and missed another chance at a title. Messi’s team is set to play their next match on September 14 against Charlotte. Looking ahead, Inter will aim to finish strong in the rest of the MLS regular season.
