Minnesota United and the Philadelphia Union have secured their places in the Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs, as reported by MLSsoccer.com. Both teams achieved this on Saturday, August 30, with five regular-season games still to play.

Minnesota marked their sixth playoff appearance in seven years after a 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers. Under coach Eric Ramsay, the team is currently second in the Western Conference with 51 points (14 wins, 6 losses, 9 draws). Their offense is led by Designated Player Kelvin Yeboah, who has scored nine goals since Canadian forward Tani Oluwaseyi joined Villarreal. In midfield, Dominik Fitz partners with Argentine DP Joaquín Pereyra and Finnish international Robin Lod. The defense is led by New Zealand international Michael Boxall and Canadian goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair, an MLS All-Star known for his nine shutouts this season.

In the Eastern Conference, Philadelphia secured their playoff spot with a 1-0 away victory against FC Cincinnati. In their first season under coach Bradley Carnell, the Union are leading the Supporters’ Shield race with 57 points (17 wins, 6 losses, 6 draws). Israeli forward Tai Baribo has netted 16 goals, placing him in the Golden Boot race, while defenders Jakob Glesnes and Kai Wagner anchor one of the league’s top defenses, allowing only 26 goals. Homegrown player Quinn Sullivan has become a key asset, while goalkeeper Andre Blake remains a reliable presence.

The 2025 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs will kick off on October 22 with Wild Card matches, and the MLS Cup final is set for December 6. The top seven seeds in each conference will move directly to the Round One Best-of-3 Series, while the 8th and 9th seeds will compete in the Wild Card round. All playoff matches will be available on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
