The recent removal of Binacional from Liga 1 in 2025 has raised concerns for another Peruvian club, Ayacucho FC. According to Infobae, Ayacucho is currently in the top division due to a temporary court ruling, but its future depends on the Constitutional Court, which is set to make a important ruling after an upcoming hearing.

Journalist Gustavo Peralta from L1 MAX stated that Ayacucho’s position is linked to this pending decision. “The club is in Liga 1 because of an anticipatory execution ruling. This will remain in effect until the Constitutional Court delivers a final verdict. A hearing is scheduled, and the results will be known in about 10 days,” he noted.

While the mood inside the club is optimistic, the Peruvian Football Federation views the situation differently. Peralta indicated that Ayacucho might experience a fate similar to Binacional’s, possibly facing exclusion between September and October, marking a second relegation in the same season.

This situation stems from the 2022 campaign when Ayacucho claimed that sanctions against Sport Boys were not applied. A civil court agreed with Ayacucho and ordered the club’s reinstatement in Liga 1. The federation complied to avoid legal repercussions but has since appealed the decision.

The challenge lies in the fact that seeking civil court intervention before utilizing sports tribunals goes against FIFA rules. This could provide the federation justification for Ayacucho’s removal if the Constitutional Court overturns the temporary ruling.

Currently, Ayacucho’s future in Liga 1 is uncertain. The court’s ruling will determine if the club remains in the league or becomes the second team to be removed through legal means this season.
