Palmeiras has nearly recovered its investment in Andreas Pereira through transfer income from past academy players, as reported by UOL. The São Paulo club paid €10 million ($10.9 million) to Fulham for the midfielder but has gained R$53.2 million from sales of players no longer with the team.

Defender Gustavo Mancha, a Copa São Paulo champion in 2023, was sold by Fortaleza to Olympiacos for €4.5 million. Palmeiras held 30 percent of his rights, earning R$8.4 million from the transfer.

Forward Kevin, who grew up in Palmeiras’ youth system and played for Shakhtar Donetsk, transferred to Fulham in a deal worth €40 million plus bonuses. Palmeiras received €2.8 million (R$17.8 million) from a resale clause and an additional €800,000 (R$5.1 million) through FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.

The list also includes striker Wesley, who was sold by Internacional to Al-Rayyan in Qatar for €10 million. Palmeiras kept 50 percent of this fee, resulting in R$18.9 million. Additionally, right back Kauã Moraes moved from Athletico-PR to Cruzeiro for R$10 million, providing R$3 million to Palmeiras.

Youth coordinator João Paulo Sampaio mentioned that Palmeiras maintains a “savings account” of 142 former academy players still active globally, in which the club retains a stake. This approach generates consistent revenue, aiding in covering the costs of bringing in Andreas Pereira.
