Icardi has remained in Turkey during the international matches. He has not been part of Argentina’s national team due to a personal issue.

This season, Icardi took on the captaincy after the previous captain, Fernando Muslera, left. He has returned to play after an injury sidelined him for nearly a year. So far, Icardi has played as a substitute but has scored twice in the Turkish Super Lig.

Galatasaray will resume play after the international break on September 14 against Eyüpspor. They will start their Champions League campaign four days later, facing Eintracht Frankfurt on September 18.
