Arsenal forward Viktor Gyökeres is involved in a significant legal case in Sweden. His agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the publications Fotboll Sthlm and Expressen for reports suggesting links between Cetinkaya, his agency HCM Sports Management, and criminal groups.
According to the Daily Mail, police are looking into a shooting incident near the home of a relative of one of Gyökeres’s agents in Huddinge, near Stockholm. Reports indicate this shooting might be connected to the player’s transfer, with claims that the relative boasted about receiving part of the transfer fee.
Authorities have previously warned that organized crime might be pressuring people in professional football for extortion purposes.
It has been confirmed that Gyökeres will testify as a witness in the defamation case at a district court in Stockholm in 2026. Case documents show the player will be questioned about specific details related to the case. The hearing is set for February 4 to 11 next year, during which Arsenal will play two Premier League matches—one at home against Sunderland and another away to Brentford.
