The increasing number of matches is straining the relationship between clubs and national teams over player availability. Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick announced that Lamine Yamal will miss the game against Valencia and criticized Spain coach Luis De La Fuente for not following Barcelona’s advice during the last FIFA window.

Lamine won’t be available. It’s unfortunate. He went to the national team hurt and was given painkillers to play. He played 79 and 73 minutes without any training between the matches. That’s not good for players. Spain has top talent in every position. Young players should be cared for. I’m disappointed by this,” Flick said.

Flick also mentioned issues with communication with De La Fuente, saying: “We’ve hardly talked. I sent one message. My Spanish is limited, and he doesn’t speak English. Communication could improve. I’ve been in similar situations before, and the relationships were always better.”

On the injury keeping Yamal out of the Valencia match, Flick added: “It’s a minor pubis issue. He’ll be doubtful for Newcastle. The reports about his back are incorrect.”

Without their star player, Barcelona will take on Valencia on Sunday in LaLiga’s fourth matchday. After a draw against Villarreal, the team aims to recover and keep up with rival Real Madrid, who has won their first three matches.

Barcelona to host Valencia at Johan Cruyff Stadium

For Sunday’s match against Valencia, Barcelona will play at Johan Cruyff Stadium, which usually hosts the women’s and B teams, with a limited capacity of only 6,000 fans.

This decision comes as Camp Nou is closed for extensive renovations that have been ongoing for more than two years. Plans to use Estadio Olimpico de Montjuic, which served as Barcelona’s temporary home last season, were not finalized in time for this game.

Flick spoke about the situation, saying: “I talked with the players and the captain, and they assured me it won’t affect them. Playing here is different, but it shouldn’t hinder us. We’ve faced similar situations before, like against Como.”
