According to Costa Rican sources, Deportivo Saprissa winger Marvin Loría is in the spotlight after a video featuring him and an alleged lover went viral. The clip, shared by the TikTok account Chismes Costa Rica, shows his wife, Melanie Valverde, confronting him outside a bar in Santa Ana.
The video shows Valverde attempting to open the door of Loría’s car and standing in front of it, repeatedly asking, “Are you going to run me over?” This scene quickly spread across social media, causing a stir among Saprissa fans and followers of Costa Rican football.
Valverde later posted a strong statement on her social media regarding the incident. “A personal video is circulating that reveals a difficult situation in my private life. I felt no need to discuss it because the other person involved has not come forward,” she wrote. She added, “Today I choose to prioritize my peace, integrity, dignity, and future. I only ask for respect, understanding, and empathy during this time.”
Loría, who joined Saprissa this year after several seasons with the Portland Timbers in MLS, has not publicly addressed the situation. His on-field performances had already drawn attention, and he is contracted with the Costa Rican team until 2026.
