Club América announced on Tuesday that striker Henry Martín has sprained his left knee, which will keep him out of the upcoming Apertura 2025 Matchday 9 game against Monterrey. The team shared this update on social media, mentioning that his recovery time will depend on how well he progresses.

This injury comes shortly after América’s defeat in the National Clásico against Chivas. The exact severity of the sprain has not been revealed, but medical sources indicate that a Grade 1 sprain could keep him out for one to four weeks, while a Grade 2 sprain might extend his absence to up to two months.

Martín has struggled with injuries this season, playing only ten Liga MX matches and totaling 513 minutes on the field. Before the Clásico, he expressed that the ongoing physical issues have impacted his mindset, making him frustrated with the continual setbacks. He played 21 minutes against Guadalajara, showing signs of improvement before this latest injury occurred.

América is also facing other injury issues. Spanish midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo is currently training separately due to a knee problem and will be evaluated throughout the week to see if he can make the trip to Monterrey. On a brighter note, Sebastián Cáceres and Alexis Gutiérrez have returned to full training after overcoming their injuries.
