Peru’s national team is preparing for a transition as it looks toward the 2030 World Cup qualifiers, and a new player may soon join the Blanquirroja. According to Cancherazos, Alexander Robertson is likely to receive his first call-up for the friendly matches in Europe scheduled for November.

Peru will play against Russia in St. Petersburg on November 12 and then face Chile in Sochi on November 18. These matches aim to evaluate the current squad and introduce promising new talent for the future.

Robertson, a 21-year-old midfielder from Cardiff City in Wales and son of a Peruvian mother, has been on the federation’s radar for a while. He is recognized for his vision, composure, and adaptability, making him a good addition to Peru’s midfield. He missed previous selections due to injury, but recent medical updates have been encouraging.

Manuel Barreto, the youth development director, has been monitoring Robertson’s growth closely. Holding the friendlies in Europe will ease travel challenges and help him integrate into the team more easily.

If his call-up is confirmed, it will demonstrate the Peruvian Football Federation’s strategy of tapping into players with Peruvian heritage who play overseas. This could mark the start of a generational shift aimed at building a strong squad ready to return to the World Cup.
