In the first round of the Champions League, Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea 3-1. This match also saw goalkeeper Manuel Neuer set a new record.

Details: Neuer became the oldest player for Bayern to appear in a Champions League match, doing so at 39 years and 174 days old.

He surpassed Lothar Matthäus, who previously held the record at 38 years and 353 days.

After the game, Neuer joked about his age:

“I hope I don’t look that old. Well, Lothar doesn’t look old either, but I’m still trying to look fresh,” he said.

This season, Neuer has played in all five matches, allowing only four goals.
