The Miami Herald reports that Lionel Messi will return to Inter Miami next season to continue his career wearing the pink No. 10 jersey. After several months of negotiations, the 38-year-old Argentine star and the Inter Miami management have reached a new multiyear contract agreement.
An official announcement is anticipated in the next few weeks, following standard procedures. Once agreed upon by Messi and Inter Miami, the contract will be sent to Major League Soccer for final approval.
Messi is focused on maintaining top form, as he also prepares to assist Argentina in defending its World Cup title next summer, with the 2026 World Cup set to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Messi signed with Inter Miami on July 15, 2023, after leaving PSG, in a two-and-a-half-year deal set to last through the end of the 2025 season.
He quickly made an impact, leading Inter Miami to win the inaugural Leagues Cup in 2023 shortly after his debut. Since then, Miami has set an MLS record for most points in a single season and secured the 2024 Supporters’ Shield.
In 2025, Messi has played in 36 matches for Inter Miami, scoring 28 goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions, including the CONCACAF Champions Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, MLS, and Leagues Cup. He is currently the top scorer for the team.
