UEFA usually acts quickly when it comes to disciplinary decisions involving players, coaches, or clubs. However, this time they have taken nearly five years to reach a verdict.
On September 19, UEFA’s official website revealed its decisions related to the Champions League semi-final match between PSG and Manchester City from the 2020-2021 season. The first match was held on April 28, 2021, in Paris, where Manchester City won 2-1.
According to the ruling, PSG has been fined 30,000 euros due to a delayed kickoff, while midfielder Idrissa Gueye received a two-match ban from UEFA competitions for serious foul play.
The issue is that the 2021-2022 season was Gueye’s last in European competitions. He transferred to Everton in the summer of 2022, and since then, his new club has not participated in any European tournaments.
Additionally, UEFA announced another contentious decision today. Slavia Prague midfielder Ondřej Kúdela has received a ten-match ban from all UEFA competitions for racist remarks towards Rangers player Glen Kamara during their Europa League match in March 2021.
The twist? Kúdela is now 38 years old and has not played in the Czech top flight, European tournaments, or for the national team.
