Details: Referee Gareth Vicars, who officiated in the English Football League and the FA Cup, has been sentenced after being convicted of offenses involving minors.
Vicars received a 13-year prison sentence on 16 counts confirmed by the court.
The Snaresbrook Crown Court revealed that the crimes occurred over three years, from November 2021 to October 2024, involving three 15-year-old girls. Vicars pleaded guilty.
He was suspended from his duties immediately after the charges were made public and has not returned to officiating since.
