Due to the absence of recruits like Steve Mounié, Remy Labeau-Lascary, and Ahmed Abdullahi, Angers has relied on its young homegrown strikers: Prosper Peter, a French U19 international of Nigerian descent, and Sidiki Chérif, a former Guinean U16 player. They quickly made their mark in Ligue 1, each scoring two goals and directly influencing the club’s performance. An interesting statistic highlighted by L’Equipe is that together they are just 36 years old, younger than either Olivier Giroud or Youssef El-Arabi, both established attackers with the same number of goals.

Angers’ coach, Alexandre Dujeux, praised their immediate impact: “It’s a tremendous opportunity for these boys and seeing them each with two goals in Ligue 1 is wonderful and encouraging.” Peter and Chérif previously scored against Rennes (1-1, August 31) and Monaco (1-1, October 18), and then both contributed to a 2-0 victory over Lorient.
