The African qualification rounds have mostly concluded during the recent international break in October. However, four teams are still in the running, hoping to secure a spot for the 2026 World Cup. The four best second-placed teams will compete in a mini-tournament during the November break.
The Confederation of African Football has announced the schedule for this tournament, starting on November 13 with Nigeria facing Gabon at 5 PM IST, followed by Cameroon vs. the Democratic Republic of Congo. The final will take place in Rabat, Morocco, on November 16 at 8 PM IST between the two winners. Even after this tournament, the journey isn’t over: the champion will join a playoff in March with teams from other confederations for a chance at the last available World Cup spots. Already qualified teams from Africa include South Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia.
