Luis Suárez will have to watch Inter Miami’s crucial MLS playoff match from the sidelines. The league’s disciplinary committee has suspended him following a violent incident involving Nashville’s Andy Najar last Saturday. While Inter Miami was trailing 2-0, Suárez, pushed in the penalty area, retaliated with a kick to Najar’s lower body, causing him to fall. Although the referee did not take action during the game, the MLS deemed the incident serious enough for a suspension due to “violent conduct” and imposed a fine with an undisclosed amount.
This latest incident comes just weeks after Suárez received a three-match suspension for spitting on a Seattle Sounders staff member during the Leagues Cup final. This punishment added to a previous six-match suspension for future editions of the tournament. At nearly 39 years old, the Uruguayan continues to attract attention for the wrong reasons. However, he has also reached a career milestone of 600 goals.
