Mbappé vs. PSG: Dispute heads to Labor Court for resolution

A significant legal chapter involving Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain is set to unfold on Monday with a hearing at the Paris labor court. The Real Madrid forward is seeking €55 million in unpaid wages and wishes to convert his temporary contract into a permanent one. A judicial source cited by AFP and reported by Le Parisien noted that the hearing will proceed “directly at the judgment office,” bypassing the usual conciliation phase, as “Kylian Mbappé is requesting the conversion of his temporary contract into a permanent one.” Both the club and the player’s representatives have declined to comment, and the final decision may take several months due to existing court timelines.

This dispute traces back to the 2023-2024 season when Mbappé was sidelined by PSG for refusing to extend his contract and opting to see it through to its conclusion. The club states that his reintegration was made “under an agreement between the two parties, stipulating that the player would forfeit part of the amounts owed at the end of his contract, to preserve the club’s financial health,” a claim Mbappé’s camp considers to be “fantasy.” The player, who joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 without a transfer fee, disputes any agreement and demands the full €55 million in bonuses and unpaid salaries. PSG, in turn, describes Mbappé’s narrative as “fantastical.” A precautionary seizure obtained by Mbappé in April 2025 was revoked by the courts on May 26. This labor court hearing comes four months after Mbappé withdrew his criminal complaint for moral harassment against PSG, which he filed in May, while the investigation was still ongoing in the summer. The two parties have also clashed before the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) and the French Football Federation (FFF), which were unable to enforce their favorable decisions for the player due to an orientation hearing requested by the club in the judicial court of Paris, initially set for May but postponed to a later date.
