The FIGC president, Gabriele Gravina, has ruled out the possibility of postponing a Serie A matchday next March to aid Italy’s preparation for the European playoffs for the 2026 World Cup. Speaking at the Federal Council, Gravina stated that rescheduling the calendar is “not feasible” and that there are “no shortcuts” to properly face the challenge ahead for the Azzurri.

Despite these challenges, the federation’s head assured that every possible measure will be taken to support the national team. In this regard, the FIGC is working on organizing a training camp in February that aligns with the commitments of clubs, particularly those involved in international competitions.
