The draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026 groups will take place today, December 5, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 12:00 PM Eastern Time, which corresponds to 10:30 PM in India.
This event marks a key step for the historic 48-team tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The expanded format will see a total of 104 matches played over 39 days. The tournament begins on June 11, 2026, and the final is set to be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
FIFA has also confirmed the new format for the tournament. The teams will be divided into 12 groups of 4. From these groups, the top two teams and the eight best third-placed teams will qualify for the knockout stage, which will begin with a Round of 32.
In India, there will be no television broadcast of the draw. However, viewers can watch the live stream on FIFA+ and the official FIFA World Cup social media channels, including YouTube.
