The Portuguese football scene has found its latest talent. Mateus Mide, a 17-year-old attacking midfielder who excelled during the recent U17 World Cup in Qatar, not only led his national team to victory but also earned the title of the tournament’s best player. His outstanding performance has drawn attention from top clubs. According to Portuguese media, Mateus Mide visited the facilities of Gestifute, the agency run by renowned agent Jorge Mendes, who now represents him. This was visually confirmed through a photo shared by Polaris Sports on Instagram, showing Mide alongside Mendes. This partnership marks a significant step for the young Portuguese star. Accompanied by his parents, Mide, who is the son of former futsal player and current Leixões coach Adriano Mide, is set on a trajectory akin to his fellow countrymen, including Vitinha, Bernardo Silva, and João Neves.
While Mateus Mide is now linked with Jorge Mendes, FC Porto retains a solid position. The player is under contract with the Dragões until 2027, with a release clause estimated at around 20 million euros. This figure, although substantial, does not deter the major European clubs keeping an eye on him, and it ensures a significant return for his training club.
