Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has announced that Cole Palmer will be rested for their League Cup quarter-final match against Cardiff City.
The team will head to Wales to face the League One club on Tuesday evening, with kickoff scheduled for 8pm.
Maresca acknowledged the work of Cardiff’s manager, Brian Barry-Murphy, a former colleague from Manchester City, highlighting Cardiff’s position at the top of their league.
“They are doing a good job,” he noted during his pre-match press conference. “They are at the top of the league and doing really well.
“I used to coach the under-23s and worked with him. He attended one of our training sessions. He is doing an excellent job.”

Maresca confirmed that some changes will be made to the starting lineup following the recent 2-0 victory over Everton.
“We are going to make some changes,” he stated. “We will see how many we can make. Some players have had a lot of minutes over the last 12-15 days.”
Palmer is among those who will be rested after recently recovering from injuries. He made his fourth league start of the season against Everton but isn’t fit to play more than once a week.
“Cole is one of the players who needs to be managed carefully,” Maresca explained. “At this moment, he cannot play two games in three days.”
