Bruno Fernandes has discussed how Ruben Amorim influenced his decision to stay at Manchester United, despite interest from the Saudi Pro League last summer.

Al-Hilal made a strong attempt to sign Fernandes and were reportedly ready to pay around £100 million for him.

The 31-year-old opted to remain at the club and has been performing well in the Premier League this season, leading the league in assists while only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has had a hand in more goals.

Fernandes felt that Manchester United would have accepted the significant offer but were hesitant to disregard the manager’s request.

More than anything, it saddened me because I’m a player who gives my all, whether the performance is good or bad…”
