Santiago Montiel has received The FIFA Puskás Award for 2025 following a remarkable overhead kick for Independiente against Independiente Rivadavia.
Montiel, cousin of World Cup champion Gonzalo Montiel, scored this stunning overhead kick during an Argentinian Liga Profesional de Fútbol match in May 2025.
After a set piece was cleared to the edge of the area, the 25-year-old skillfully sent the ball back toward the goal, hitting the top corner from a distance.
This impressive goal marked the second consecutive year an overhead kick has won the Puskás award, with Alejandro Garnacho’s goal for Manchester United at Everton winning in 2024.
