Inter Miami has re-signed striker Luis Suarez through the 2026 season, as announced by the MLS Cup champions on Wednesday.

The renowned Uruguay international scored 17 goals and provided 17 assists in 50 matches for the team in 2025.

Suarez, who will be 39 in January, has netted 42 goals and tallied 29 assists in 87 games since joining Inter Miami before the 2024 season.

Miami co-owner Jorge Mas mentioned earlier this month that Suarez would receive a contract if he chose to return.

“Luis deserves to make that decision and to be celebrated properly by the club,” Mas stated on Dec. 6. “If he opts to stay for another year, that would be wonderful. I would like to see Suarez continue with us.”

Suarez and two-time MLS MVP Lionel Messi are the only members left from Miami’s “Core Four” of former FC Barcelona players, as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have retired following the 2025 playoffs.

The Herons will open their new stadium, Miami Freedom Park, on April 4 against Austin FC. The club’s first five matches of the 2026 season will be away games.
