Carlos Alcaraz has decided to end his long-time coaching relationship with Juan Carlos Ferrero, surprising everyone. This news comes after Alcaraz’s remarkable 2025 season, where he won eight titles and became the world’s No.1 player. There had been no indications of issues between them.

The announcement caught even Ferrero off guard. He shared a touching message on social media, wishing to continue coaching Alcaraz and reflecting on their successful partnership.

Lopez Takes Over — New Name in the Mix

Now, the focus shifts to who will take Ferrero’s place on Alcaraz’s team. For now, Samuel Lopez, who was Alcaraz’s second coach under Ferrero, will lead the training program. Lopez was instrumental during the 2025 season, witnessing and supporting Alcaraz’s title wins in Rotterdam, Monte-Carlo, and Queen’s Club.

Interestingly, reports from Spain suggest that Alvaro Alcaraz, Carlos’s brother, may step into a bigger role following Ferrero’s exit. Alvaro has been with Carlos on Tour as a hitting partner and is someone Carlos deeply trusts.

It’s still uncertain whether a new external coach will join the team. Coaches worldwide will likely be interested if Alcaraz decides to recruit additional support. For now, Lopez and Alvaro Alcaraz will share the coaching duties following this significant change in Alcaraz’s team.
