Tyler Adams, midfielder for the U.S. Men’s National Team, will be out for up to three months due to a knee injury, which may impact his preparation for the upcoming World Cup.

The injury occurred during the early minutes of Bournemouth’s Premier League match against Manchester United when Adams sustained a torn MCL.

“Tyler has torn his MCL, so he will definitely be out for some time,” said Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola. “Based on our previous experience with MCL injuries, recovery usually takes around two to three months.”

Adams has scored two goals in 15 matches this season for Bournemouth.

As the captain of the U.S. team during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Adams was named the U.S. Soccer Player of the Year in 2022. He has recorded two goals in 52 games for the national team since 2017.

The U.S. team, under coach Mauricio Pochettino, has four friendly matches scheduled before their first game of the 2026 World Cup against Paraguay on June 12 in Inglewood, California.

Adams is expected to be sidelined until mid-March, which could affect his participation in upcoming friendlies against Belgium on March 28 and Portugal on March 31, both in Atlanta, and later games against Senegal on May 31 in Charlotte and Germany on June 6 in Chicago.
