Barcelona has identified Josko Gvardiol, Ibrahima Konate, and Marc Guehi as potential centre-back targets.
The Spanish champions aim to sign a new central defender this summer, as Ronald Araujo is currently away for mental health reasons and Andreas Christensen’s contract is nearing its end.
Barcelona seeks a long-term partner for Pau Cubarsi and is considering the Premier League trio, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Guehi and Konate are seen as more attainable options for the team, as both will be free agents in the summer. Barcelona can negotiate pre-contract agreements with either player in January but will face competition from several European clubs. Liverpool had a deal for Guehi fall through in the summer and may renew their interest.
Gvardiol matches Barcelona’s desired player profile, but signing him may prove challenging. The Croatian player is under contract with Manchester City until 2027 and is considered a crucial part of the club’s future.
City acquired the 23-year-old for £77 million from RB Leipzig in 2023, making him one of the most expensive defenders ever. The club is keen to secure Gvardiol with a new contract as he has excelled after returning to a centre-back position this season.
Additional names reportedly being considered by Barcelona include Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck and Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni.
