Marc Guehi is not expected to leave Crystal Palace during the January transfer window and is likely to depart on a free transfer in the summer.
His contract with Crystal Palace ends at the close of the current season, and he has decided not to extend it.
The 25-year-old had a £35 million transfer to Liverpool fall through on deadline day last summer when Palace couldn’t secure a replacement in time. While Liverpool may show interest again in January, a transfer seems unlikely.
The BBC’s Senior Football Correspondent, Sami Mokbel, indicated that Guehi is expected to remain at Crystal Palace for the rest of the season.
Starting in January, foreign clubs can negotiate a pre-contract deal with Guehi, and he stands to gain a substantial signing bonus if he moves as a free agent.
“As of now, he is likely to stay at Palace until his contract ends,” Mokbel said on BBC Match of the Day.
“He will have many options in the summer, with clubs in Europe; Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan, all showing interest in him recently.
“By the end of the season, Liverpool and Manchester City will also be in the mix. He is set to leave, and I expect this situation to develop over the summer, giving him a wide range of club options.”
