Giampaolo Pazzini, a former striker for Atalanta, Fiorentina, and Inter, recently spoke highly of Hojlund on Sportsmediaset.
Pazzini, who represented Italy 25 times, credits much of Hojlund’s growth this season to Napoli manager Antonio Conte.
“Currently, Hojlund, under Conte, is one of the best strikers in Serie A, alongside Lautaro. Since joining, he has undergone a remarkable transformation,” Pazzini said.
“He has always been a talented player, but his instinct and power were untamed. Conte has refined and improved him.”
Pazzini also noted that Hojlund contributes significantly to Napoli beyond scoring goals.
“He’s now an excellent striker because he plays for the team,” Pazzini commented. “He rarely makes mistakes; he’s always in the right position. He plays effectively, whether short or long, and is ruthless in front of goal.”
It’s noteworthy that this is the same Rasmus Hojlund who scored only four goals during his single season in the Premier League with Manchester United last year.
Napoli are nearing a deal for Hojlund
Rasmus Hojlund transferred to Napoli late in the transfer window after initially wanting to remain at Manchester United.
After Benjamin Sesko joined United, Hojlund was left out of the squad for the last two pre-season matches.
The striker then agreed to a season-long loan with Napoli, which includes a purchase clause that becomes mandatory under specific conditions.
If Napoli qualifies for the Champions League, they must pay the agreed £38 million to make the transfer permanent.
With Napoli currently in second place in Serie A, they are in a good position to achieve that goal.
The club also paid a £5.2 million loan fee for Hojlund this season, and it appears to be a wise investment for both the player and the club.
