David Moyes is not concerned about James Garner’s future at Everton as the midfielder approaches the last six months of his contract.
The 24-year-old was key in Everton’s victory over Nottingham Forest, his former club, at the City Ground on Tuesday night. He scored the first goal and assisted Thierno Barry later on.
This was only Garner’s 11th goal involvement since moving to Everton from Manchester United for around £15 million in 2022.
The Birkenhead native will be able to sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs starting Thursday, January 1, and may leave for free in the summer.
Moyes ‘comfortable’ about Everton star Garner’s uncertain future
Despite this uncertainty, Moyes feels relaxed ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
“I am quite comfortable,” he said following the win against Forest. “I feel quite comfortable about the situation. He has developed significantly. When I arrived, I saw a boy, but now I see someone becoming a leader.
“He is maturing and performing like a real midfielder. He is unafraid to compete against the best players. He looked impressive tonight.”
