West Ham has had a tough start to the 2025/26 season. Graham Potter was initially the head coach, but he has since been replaced by Nuno Espírito Santo. The team is currently in 18th place in the league and aims to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window.
Nuno recently discussed the need for improvements as they approach a crucial second half of the season.
West Ham Needs to Strengthen in January
Nuno Has a ‘Clear Idea’ What West Ham Require
At the end of 2025, West Ham is four points away from safety and needs new players to support their fight in the Premier League. Nuno Espírito Santo has noticed this need and has brought in some of the club’s young talent recently, such as Oliver Scarles and Freddie Potts in the 2-2 draw against Brighton, along with substitutes Ezra Mayers and Mohamadou Kante.
Nuno Discusses West Ham’s January Plans
Nuno expressed satisfaction with the young players’ contributions but emphasized that the squad requires strengthening:
“I am pleased for the young players, because they’re helping,” he stated.
“However, it’s clear that we need to rebalance our squad. We must make the right moves in what is a challenging transfer window.
“We need to improve and have more options for the second half of the season.
“I have a clear idea about everything. It’s our responsibility to inform the club about what we need.
“The reflection is clear, and the sooner we act, the better,” Nuno added.
What does West Ham need? Is Nuno the right choice for this role? It’s evident that West Ham must have a strong performance in the latter part of the 2025/26 season.
