Manchester United have brought Toby Collyer back from his loan at West Bromwich Albion, ending his stay earlier than planned. The loan was meant to help the midfielder gain experience in the Championship.

Collyer had joined West Brom on a season-long loan in the summer, with United hoping he would get regular playing time, aiding his growth away from Old Trafford.

During his time at West Brom, Collyer made 12 appearances, mainly coming on as a substitute but did start a few games before being sidelined by an injury.

He provided one assist, contributing to a goal in West Brom’s 2–1 victory against Preston North End and demonstrated his potential as a promising player for United.

However, a serious injury cut his loan short, requiring him to leave the pitch early in one of his starts and return to Manchester for treatment and recovery with United’s medical staff.

As the injury is expected to keep him out for a while, United decided to recall him to ensure he receives proper care and continues his progress.

West Brom confirmed his departure, thanking Collyer for his efforts and wishing him well for the future.

From United’s viewpoint, this move does not change their opinion of Collyer’s abilities. He remains a player they see as having long-term potential in their midfield plans once he is fully fit.

The club will reassess his situation later in the season, considering options for him to either return to under-21 training or perhaps go on another loan when he’s ready.

For now, the focus is on his recovery, as United aims to keep his development on track despite a loan that did not go as planned.
