Pep Guardiola accepted a draw as Man City lost ground to Arsenal in the Premier League title race after a goalless match against Sunderland on Thursday night.

City’s eight-match winning streak ended, and Sunderland maintained their unbeaten home record this season.

This result allowed Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the table to four points after defeating Aston Villa 4-1 on Tuesday.

Guardiola Reflects on Man City’s Draw

When asked about the game, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “Good. We take the point. The second half was excellent. We missed chances and couldn’t score from close range.

“We had several opportunities in front of the goal but failed to convert. They posed a real threat and I was pleased with our performance, especially in the second half.

“We created many chances against a tough team, particularly in the second half. The first half was challenging due to their pressing, but Rodri helped us break through their lines, and we played better after the break.

“They are very physical and strong, which was not surprising. We accept the point; there is still a long journey ahead.

“The result is what it is.”

Man City will next play on Sunday when they host Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.
