Chelsea is set to announce a new head coach soon after parting ways with Enzo Maresca on Thursday.

The Italian coach led Chelsea to victory in the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup, as well as qualification for the UEFA Champions League in his first season. However, his departure came due to a decline in results and challenges in his relationship with the club’s management.

Maresca had discussed opportunities with both Manchester City and Juventus, which displeased the club’s board.

Chelsea is now focused on finding a new coach who can help get the season back on track.

Chelsea considers unlikely candidate for coach position as four are excluded

The Athletic reported that Liam Rosenior is a leading candidate for the job. Currently the manager of RC Strasbourg, he is seen as a potential frontrunner.

Other candidates, such as Oliver Glasner, Cesc Fabregas, Andoni Iraola, and Roberto De Zerbi, are reportedly not being pursued by the club.

The club is expected to announce the new coach soon, possibly within days.

Rosenior’s appointment would be surprising due to his limited managerial experience in England’s top division, but he is well-regarded and has had successful spells at Derby County, Hull City, and currently at Strasbourg, which is owned by BlueCo, the same firm that owns Chelsea.
