Everything Mikel Arteta does, both on and off the field, is closely observed.

The Arsenal manager has faced criticism over the years, often for issues that other coaches don’t encounter as frequently.

While Arteta may not be overly concerned, opinions continue to emerge. The latest remarks come from former PGMOL chief Hackett.

After Arsenal’s 4-1 victory against Aston Villa, Hackett pointed out that Arteta was seen outside his designated technical area multiple times, which is noted as an offense under the rules.

He stated to Aston Villa News, “I understand the passion of managers and the frustrations they face when players do not follow their instructions.

“The technical area is clearly defined; the edge must be at least one meter from the touchline. Arteta, like many others, often steps out of this area during the game.

“A simple warning from the fourth official should suffice to address this issue.

“If he does not comply after a warning, then a yellow card should be issued.”

Why Mikel Arteta shouldn’t face penalties for touchline actions

Concerns about Arteta’s behavior on the touchline are longstanding and will likely persist while he remains in his role.

He is known for being an active presence during games, attempting to motivate his players from the sidelines.

Although Arteta occasionally steps out of the technical area, he typically does not interfere with the game or disrupt the opposing team. The actual impact on the match is minimal.

Unai Emery was also observed outside his technical area during the same match, but this did not spark any controversy.

This behavior is not exclusive to Arteta; many managers do it, and calls for punishment seem unnecessary in these situations.
