Tottenham needs a replacement for Brennan Johnson this winter.

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank faces significant pressure after not achieving desired results in the Premier League since his arrival last summer. He was brought in to build on last season’s Europa League success and improve the club’s domestic performance. However, Tottenham remains in the lower half of the league table without showing much progress.

There is an urgent need for new players this month as Spurs aim to narrow the gap with their rivals in the upcoming matches. Reports indicate that the Lewis family is ready to support Frank with a £150 million budget for new signings, allowing the manager to bring in players who will fit his style and have an immediate impact.

The responsibility now falls to the Spurs management to find the right players who can help in the long term and fit into the starting lineup immediately. The team has several issues, especially in attack, that they need to address as the season progresses. It’s essential to add players who can enhance the forward line and consistently pose a threat in attack.

Tottenham should consider Fulham’s Harry Wilson in January

Following Brennan Johnson’s agreement to join Crystal Palace, Tottenham is set to lose a key player. Johnson’s versatility on the flanks has been vital, making it important for Spurs to find a flexible attacker who can deliver crucial passes in offense.

Dean Saunders has suggested that Spurs look at Fulham’s Harry Wilson as a creative option for the January transfer window. Speaking on talkSPORT, Saunders noted:

“If you watch Wales every game they play and I didn’t tell you who the players were, Spurs would sign Harry Wilson before Brennan Johnson. I think Wilson’s brilliant. He’s got an end product. He either has a shot, or he scores a goal, or makes an assist. He’s also getting near 30 now. So, I think he’d be a good signing for someone trying to get into Europe. Definitely.”

Saunders believes Wilson has been more impactful than Johnson this season for both club and country. He highlighted Wilson’s consistent ability to create goal-scoring opportunities. With Wilson nearing 30, Saunders thinks he would add valuable experience to Spurs’ attack as they aim for European competition.

Is Harry Wilson the right choice for Tottenham?

This season, Harry Wilson has been impressive for Fulham as they compete for a spot in Europe. He is among the top performers in the Premier League, with four goals and four assists in his last ten matches. As a regular starter, he poses a consistent threat on the right flank.

However, signing Wilson may not be Spurs’ top priority if they wish to compete for major trophies. The 28-year-old might not be a clear improvement over Brennan Johnson due to his inconsistency in scoring. There’s a chance his current performance level could decline as the season continues. Instead, Tottenham should aim to recruit players with higher potential who can offer consistent performances over time.
