Owen Wolff, a midfielder, renewed his contract with Austin FC on Monday, placing him in a U22 Initiative roster slot, which extends through June 2030.
At 21, Wolff became Austin FC’s first Homegrown signing at 16 in September 2021. He made his MLS debut in November 2021 and has since played 137 games for the team.
The U22 Initiative, launched that year, helps clubs sign and keep talented young players. Wolff’s new contract will have a lower impact on the salary cap, and he will hold a Senior roster position.
“I’ve learned so much in Austin, both as a player and a person,” Wolff said in a news release. “I’m eager to continue my journey with the club and city, and I believe we can achieve great things.”
This year, the league ranked Wolff fourth among young players, marking his third consecutive selection to the MLS 22 Under 22 list. He was ranked No. 17 in 2024 and No. 18 in 2023.
The club recognized Wolff as its Offensive Player of the Year for leading in goals and assists across all competitions, totaling seven goals and 12 assists, both career highs. He started 31 of 34 MLS regular-season matches, finishing the season with seven goals and eight assists.
Wolff also set a club record with six match-winning goals in a single season. Throughout his MLS career, he has scored 10 goals and made 13 assists in 120 regular-season games, starting 80 of them.
