Chelsea is looking to boost its attack with a significant signing this summer. They’ve shown interest in players like Antoine Semenyo, Morgan Rogers, and Kenan Yildiz.

It’s possible they may revisit Rogers or Yildiz later, but other options could also arise.

According to Danny Windsor on the SPTC Substack, “Chelsea is set to look for another top attacking player this summer, which is why they initially inquired about Semenyo but chose not to proceed.”

“The club recognizes that it lacks physicality compared to its rivals and aims to address this while maintaining technical quality in future transfers.”

Every player mentioned could bring additional physical strength to the squad.

Defensive concerns remain

On a less encouraging note, Windsor added: “Chelsea continues to monitor the centre-back and striker positions, while also exploring options for players already within the club, such as Josh Acheampong, Mamadou Sarr, Aaron Anselmino, Emanuel Emegha, and Dastan Satpayev.”

While Acheampong, Sarr, and Anselmino are promising young defenders, this raises concerns.

Chelsea can spend on another wide attacker or playmaker, but the most pressing need is a solid centre-back.

Last summer, the club missed out on a top central defender and is now facing challenges this season. Even though Levi Colwill will return by the end of the season, most agree a world-class centre-back is essential.

While the striker position can be addressed later, not having a strong centre-back is an urgent issue. Another summer focused solely on adding wide attackers without strengthening the defense would not be acceptable.
