Antoine Semenyo is set to have a medical this week as he prepares to join Man City in the January transfer window.
The winger will be moving from Bournemouth for £65 million. He is likely to play his last game for Bournemouth on Wednesday against Tottenham Hotspur at Dean Court.
Sky Sports News has reported that Semenyo will undergo medical tests on Thursday as the transfer nears completion.
After the match against Spurs, “formal steps are expected to progress,” with everything reportedly agreed upon. The player’s release clause will expire on Friday.
In another development, City may pursue Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi after facing injuries to key defenders. Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol joined John Stones on the injury list after the recent match against Chelsea.
City has recalled Max Alleyne from his loan at Watford to provide extra depth in defense, but they might still look for new signings this month.
According to BBC Sport, City is “exploring a move” for Guehi in January. However, they will wait to determine the severity of injuries to Dias and Gvardiol before making a firm decision. Liverpool is also interested in the centre-back, whose contract runs out this summer.
Pep Guardiola downplayed the likelihood of signing several players in January, stating, “Maybe we get something but it is completely different [to last season]. We are not going to buy four or five players like last season,” ahead of Wednesday’s game against Brighton.
Regarding Guehi’s future, Palace manager Oliver Glasner commented, “I don’t know what will happen. It’s just the 6th [of January]. Honestly, I don’t know. Injuries can happen, you never know. But I know Marc will play tomorrow. I expect it. He trained. But I don’t know what will happen.”
