David Moyes has stated that Everton is likely to have a quiet January transfer window despite facing several injury challenges.
The team is currently missing Seamus Coleman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Charly Alcaraz, and Jarrad Branthwaite due to injuries, while Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye are participating in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Midfielder Harrison Armstrong was recently brought back from his loan at Preston North End to help fill the gaps.
Moyes addresses Everton’s transfer plans amid injury issues
Moyes hasn’t completely ruled out new signings for this month but emphasized that any changes will focus on small, gradual improvements rather than major expenditures.
“We are probably more unlikely than likely to make signings, but I wouldn’t say it’s completely off the table. We are keeping an eye on what is available,” the manager said ahead of the match against Wolves at Hill-Dickinson Stadium.
“Overall, we’ve managed the situation reasonably well. I sense we may need to handle it again. Our squad is small, which we acknowledged at the start, and the players away at AFCON makes it seem worse, but this is similar for many clubs.”
“When your squad is limited, it can quickly impact the team, and it can appear quite depleted. Our ownership wants us to be sensible. If we don’t bring anyone in, we will stick to our plan and continue building.”
