West Bromwich Albion is currently in a tough spot in the Championship, sitting in 18th place with 31 points after losing six of their last eight matches. They are only seven points clear of Norwich, who are in the relegation zone in 22nd place.

In response to these poor results, the club has fired manager Ryan Mason, who took over in July 2025.

Following his departure, West Brom has appointed James Morrison, who was Mason’s predecessor, as the caretaker manager while they search for a new head coach.

According to Alex Crook, former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay is a candidate for the position. Ramsay, 33, worked at Old Trafford for three years from 2021, collaborating with managers including Michael Carrick and Erik ten Hag.

He left Manchester United in March 2024 to become head coach of Minnesota in the MLS, making history as the youngest permanent head coach in the league at 32.

Before considering West Brom, Ramsay was also in the running for the manager role at Southampton after their relegation from the Premier League.

Crook adds that Ramsay was recently considered by Strasbourg to fill the spot left by Liam Rosenior, who went to Chelsea. Though Strasbourg ultimately chose Gary O’Neil, Ramsay’s name is gaining attention.

It remains to be seen if West Brom will pursue Ramsay, but his increasing visibility in discussions about managerial positions may indicate future opportunities.
