Igor Thiago had an impressive performance for Brentford, scoring two goals in the club’s 3-0 victory over Sunderland.
This significant win moved Brentford to fifth place in the Premier League, just one point away from the Champions League spots.
Thiago’s goals, along with a third from Yehor Yarmolyuk, highlighted his remarkable form, following a hat-trick against Everton last weekend. This brings his total to 16 goals in the Premier League this season.
At 24 years old, Thiago has set a new record for the most goals scored by a Brazilian in a single Premier League season, surpassing the previous record of 15 goals held by Roberto Firmino, Gabriel Martinelli, and Matheus Cunha.

Thiago ranks second in Premier League goals this season, trailing only Erling Haaland, and is emerging as a potential candidate for Brazil’s national team ahead of the March international fixtures.
Though he has not yet played for Brazil at any level, his performance puts him in the running for a spot in the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
Across Europe’s top five leagues in 2025/26, only Haaland, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappe have scored more goals than Thiago.
