Celtic have learned the cost to sign BK Hacken midfielder Silas Andersen this January.

The 20-year-old, who has played for Denmark’s Under-21 team, is quite esteemed in Sweden. He has been linked with both Celtic and Rangers recently.

Given Celtic’s past success in recruiting players from Scandinavia, it’s likely they are monitoring him closely.

According to Football Scotland, Hacken is asking for around £5.5m to release Andersen, which might make Celtic reconsider their approach.

Cost for Celtic to Acquire Silas Andersen Revealed

Hacken had already turned down a £3.6m offer from Copenhagen in the summer. With increasing interest from various clubs, they are now seeking a higher price.

Fotboll Direkt reported that Hacken would now entertain bids near the £8.6m range for Andersen.

This amount would not be overly burdensome for Celtic but would still make him one of their more expensive signings, second only to the £9m spent on Adam Idah and the £11m for Arne Engels.

Silas Andersen Might Address a Key Issue for Celtic

Despite their current successes, Celtic have been missing a reliable defensive midfielder to partner with Callum McGregor.

The 32-year-old could greatly benefit from having younger support nearby, capable of covering more ground and managing box-to-box responsibilities.

Andersen’s skill in ground coverage and play disruption might allow McGregor to play deeper, offering increased protection for the defense.
