Darren Fletcher has taken the spotlight at Manchester United after stepping in as the interim manager following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

Previously, Fletcher managed the Under-18 team and also served as an assistant for the Under-21s this season.

Since joining the first team, he has encountered challenges, including a 2-2 draw with Burnley and a loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup.

In those matches, United registered over 15 shots, with ten on target against Burnley and eight against Brighton.

Fletcher’s intent on attacking football is evident, but the results have not reflected this approach so far.

After the latest FA Cup defeat, media attention has shifted towards his future with the club.

In a conversation with TNT Sports, Fletcher indicated that a new manager would need “confidence” and familiarity with a specific style and formation, which can be challenging to adjust to.

He emphasized the importance of unity, stating: “The biggest thing is whoever leads them must come together.”

Fletcher added, “The players must build confidence by working hard to secure results. You want to play attractive football, but it’s crucial to find ways to win first. From there, strong fundamentals can help develop an exciting style.”

He pointed out that players seem to be lacking confidence and need to respond positively. “Confidence is vital in football; when it slips away, it’s essential to fight hard and win games to restore it,” he noted.

Fletcher challenged the experienced and talented squad to regroup, highlighting that there is still a chance for success this season, but they need to dig deep.

With this update, it appears Fletcher’s role as interim manager will end soon, with another coach likely taking over.

While the next manager remains uncertain, former players Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, and Ruud van Nistelrooy are reportedly in contention for the position.
