Celtic travels to Falkirk for a Scottish Premiership match on Wednesday evening, looking to secure a win and continue their five-game victory streak against the Bairns.

Under Martin O’Neill’s recent reappointment, Celtic has shown significant improvement after a tough period with Wilfried Nancy. They won convincingly 4-0 against Dundee United last Saturday, with goals from Yang Hyun-jun, Arne Engels, Benjamin Nygren, and Daizen Maeda.

Celtic controlled 78 percent of possession and had 22 shots on target, boosting morale within the team following Nancy’s challenging tenure. Nygren’s goal marked his 11th of the season, highlighting the attacking prowess that had been lacking. This win brought Celtic within three points of Rangers and six points behind league leaders Hearts.

Celtic team news

O’Neill’s squad faces key absences for the upcoming match. Jota will likely miss the rest of the season with a knee injury sustained in April, as stated by O’Neill, who confirmed the forward won’t return until after the summer break.

Right-back Alistair Johnston (hamstring) is aiming to return around March, along with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Callum Osmand, and Kelechi Iheanacho, who are also sidelined with injuries. However, there’s good news as Auston Trusty participated in training and is ready for selection.

Defender Stephen Welsh is back from his loan at Motherwell to strengthen the defense. O’Neill also mentioned that new signings for January are “relatively close” as they work through transfer challenges.
