Liam Rosenior expressed pride in the ‘bravery’ displayed by his team, despite Chelsea’s 3-2 loss to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Chelsea fell behind early in the match at Stamford Bridge, with Ben White scoring for Arsenal within the first seven minutes after a corner caused trouble for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. Viktor Gyokeres then extended Arsenal’s lead shortly after the break.
After that goal, Rosenior made some substitutions, and Alejandro Garnacho quickly made an impact by scoring just four minutes after coming on. Although Martin Zubimendi’s impressive goal gave Arsenal a two-goal advantage again, Garnacho found the net once more, keeping Chelsea’s hopes alive for the second leg.
Rosenior noted there were many positives to take from the match despite the defeat, stating this was his second game in a short span of time.
“I was proud of the bravery of the players as they tried to implement my instructions,” Rosenior mentioned in the post-match interview.
“In just six days and two matches, I believe this team has the potential to win now. However, I also want to make my mark on the team. It’s important.”
“I want us to play with high energy, to take control and dominate games.”
“We created opportunities from quick transitions, as well as through controlled possession, which is encouraging against a strong defensive side.”
“I saw a lot of aspects I liked today. While I’m never happy with a loss, I see this as a chance to build for our next game, showing the players areas where they can improve.”
