Oliver Glasner has announced he will leave Crystal Palace this summer, choosing not to extend his contract.
Glasner made this statement during a press conference on Friday, mentioning his desire for a ‘new challenge’.
“I made my decision months ago. I had a dinner meeting with Steve [Parish] during the October international break,” he said.
“We talked for a long time, and I informed him that I wouldn’t be signing a new contract with Crystal Palace. We agreed to keep this between us at the time. I updated the team today to ensure everyone is clear.”
The 51-year-old, who guided Palace to their first major trophy last season, is rumored to be a candidate for the vacant Manchester United manager role. If selected, Glasner could target players from his former team that suit his style.

Daniel Munoz
Ruben Amorim faced challenges in getting Manchester United to perform in a 3-4-2-1 setup, while this formation worked well for Palace under Glasner. Wing-backs are key, and Daniel Munoz has excelled on the right for the team.
The Colombian showcased his energy last season, leading the Premier League in tackles won, as well as scoring four goals and providing five assists. This season, Munoz had five goal contributions before a knee injury sidelined him.

Adam Wharton
Adam Wharton is likely the player most appealing to Manchester United. He is highly regarded on the club’s list of midfield targets, regardless of who becomes the new manager.
The 21-year-old has quickly adapted to Premier League football after joining Palace from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024, and he played an important role in last year’s FA Cup win, even earning a place in the England team.

Wharton’s ability to distribute the ball from deep is something United currently lacks. This season, he has also demonstrated creativity, ranking third in the league for expected assists and seventh for through balls.
Jean-Philippe Mateta
Glasner has indicated that Jean-Philippe Mateta could be sold if the right offer comes in and if Mateta expresses interest in leaving. The forward has 18 months left on his contract and is looking to explore his options.

The 28-year-old has become a reliable goal-scorer for Palace, netting 30 league goals in the last two seasons. His experience could ease the burden on Benjamin Sesko at Old Trafford.
